On June 25th, 2011 we held our first Charity Poker Run. It was held to help support “Promise Village”, which is a local organization out of Holly Michigan. The ride was 75 miles with three stops at Bullfrogs-Ortonville, Main Street Station-Holly, and Snappers on the Lake-Fenton: The ride began and ended at Boomers Tavern-Waterford. Fun was had by all who attended,which included a silent auction, 60/40 drawings, door prizes, and a free buffet meal upon their return. We even held a marriage re-newel during the event.

 

Promise Village is a home for troubled and abused boys. Actually it’s more of a farm or ranch with all the animals they have,which aid in the treatment of the boys. It is a faith-based program which is privately funded. As you can see, when we were out to present them their check, the boys were eager to have their picture taken. This is a great program and one that helps the families and community by returning the boys with a productive and Christian based outlook on life.
